Health Club Challenge

The Concept2 Health Club Challenge is underway.  The challenge consists of teams of 4 rowing a specific distance each month in a jump on/jump off format.  Clubs have until the end of June to complete round one. The challenge is a total of 2000 metres in a format of 2 x 250m, so each team member must row 250 metres twice.

If you think your club may still be interested, please go to our website and register.  http://www.concept2.com.au/motivation/healthclubchallenge/default.aspx

Technique Tip – Using the back too early

Using the back too early means that the weaker muscles are taking on the greater load and stronger muscles are used when the load has decreased.

Faultfault5web.jpg

The rower starts the Drive by swinging the body back rather than pushing the legs. This results in a weak movement.

Correction

The legs begin the drive and the body levers back with the arms fully extended and relaxed.

Row to Beijing

As we count down to the 2008 Summer Olympics, Concept2 are offering a special online challenge for all Concept2 rowers. The goal is to row from Concept2 headquarters in Morrisville, Vermont to the Shunyi Rowing Park in Beijing, China, where the Olympic Regatta will take place August 9–17. Along the way, we’ll visit some important rowing venues, meet athletes, and learn about the upcoming competitions. The entire Concept2 online community will row as one united team, with everyone’s meters helping move us along our route to China. You can row indoors or on the water. When you log your meters in your Personal Online Logbook, you will help row our boat to Beijing!

For more details stay tuned to your online logbook homepage. Don’t have an online logbook yet? It’s free and easy to set up. Sign up now!
