We’re excited to announce the latest addition to the Concept2 family of sport-based fitness machines: the BikeErg.
“Over the years, many people have asked us when we were going to create an indoor bike. It’s always been in the back of our minds” explains Concept2 co-founder, Peter Dreissigacker. Bicycles have always been in the Concept2 workshop: the first Model A Indoor Rower prototype was built with bicycle parts. Now, it all comes full circle: a bike inspired the first Concept2 rowing machine, and now a rowing machine inspires our indoor bike.
Unlike rowing or skiing, cycling requires a continuous motion. In the past 18 months, Peter and Dick focused on adapting Concept2’s mechanics and monitoring systems to cycling. As an “ergometer” (or “erg”) the BikeErg with PM5 measures work. Like the indoor rower and SkiErg, the BikeErg is sport-based—and there’s a family resemblance that ties the machines together.
The BikeErg uses the same flywheel for user-controlled resistance and the same PM5 for comparable and repeatable workout data. It is easy to use and maintain, and mechanically simple and durable.
The BikeErg will be available in Australia in 2018. To receive notifications on pricing and availability, sign-up to BikeErg news.
