Individual Record Requirements

Requirements

All World and American SkiErg records must be:

  • Done on a Concept2 SkiErg. Modifications to the machine that alter its performance are not allowed. Please check with Concept2 if you are unsure.
  • Single distance or timed pieces (no interval pieces).
  • Started from a non-moving flywheel.

All records must meet at least one of the following requirements:

  1. Verified with a verification code obtained for the piece from the PM3, PM4 or PM5. Pieces that are uploaded directly from ErgData or your LogCard or USB flash drive via the Concept2 Utility are automatically considered verified.
  2. Done in public with witnesses present who can be reached for confirmation of the performance. “Public” is defined as a health club, fitness center, skiing club, indoor race, trade show or regatta where Concept2 is present, school, university or special event in a public setting (for example, a fundraiser in a mall).
  3. Recorded on video from start to finish. It must be one continuous video shot. It must include setting up the workout on the monitor, all the skiiing and afterward, the workout displayed in the monitor Memory (not the last screen of the workout).

In addition to the above requirements, all adaptive records must also provide one of the following:

  1. A completed Physician’s Sport Category Form
  2. OR

  3. Proof of sport category certification from an international or a national governing body for para skiing (Concept2 reserves the right to require this proof instead of the Physician's Sport Category Form.)

Ultra-distance records may have the monitor set for an interval workout. For more information, see the Ultra-Distance Records section below.

Note that a photo of the PM screen is not an acceptable form of verification unless the verification code is displayed on the screen as well.

Ultra-Distance Records

There are additional requirements/guidelines for the following records:

Individual Million Metre Ski

  1. If using a PM3, PM4 or PM5, set the monitor using Variable Intervals. On the Main Menu, choose Select Workout > New Workout > Intervals: Variable. This enables you to set one distance interval of 900,000 metres and one distance interval of 100,000 metres with a rest interval of 0:00. If using a PM3, it is recommended that you upgrade to firmware version 88 or above. Be aware that the monitor will automatically shut down after a couple of minutes of inactivity, so you will have to reset the monitor after rest breaks unless you have someone press the Display or Change Display button to keep the PM alive.
  2. We recommend you take regular rests throughout the attempt, and the flywheel can stop spinning before the target is reached; however, your final time must include the periods when the wheel is not spinning.
  3. Keep a record of your attempt, including the start time and finish time of each session, and the metres completed in each session. Have the log signed by a witness who can verify your performance.
  4. Send us the results from your USB flash drive or LogCard in the form of a .csv file, or send your signed manual record along with a photo, if possible, and copies of or links to any publicity that your record attempt received.
  5. New records will be recognized with a special certificate of achievement, a Concept2 T-shirt and a pair of Concept2 rowing shorts.

Individual 24 Hour Ski

  1. If using a PM3, PM4 and PM5, the monitor will count up to 50,000 before it flips back to 0. Alternatively, on the Main Menu, choose Select Workout > New Workout > Intervals: Variable. This will enable you to set a single time interval of 24 hours, with a rest interval of 0:00. If using a PM3, it is recommended that you upgrade to a PM3 firmware version of 88 or above. Be aware that the monitor will automatically shut down after a couple of minutes of inactivity, so you will have to reset the monitor after rest breaks unless you have someone press the Display or Change Display button to keep the PM alive.
  2. The PM2 monitor will count metres up to 99,999, then start at 0 again, so be sure to keep track of the flips back to 0.
  3. You must ski within each hour of the 24 hours in order for the attempt to qualify as a 24 hour ski. We recommend you take regular rests throughout the attempt, and the flywheel can stop spinning.
  4. Keep a record of your attempt, including the start time and finish time of each session, and the metres completed in each hour. Have the log signed by a witness who can verify your performance.
  5. Send us the results from your USB flash drive or LogCard in the form of a .csv file, or send your signed manual record along with a photo, if possible, and copies of or links to any publicity that your record attempt received.
  6. New records will be recognized with a special certificate of achievement, a Concept2 T-shirt and a pair of Concept2 rowing shorts.

Individual Longest Continual Ski

  1. If using a PM3, PM4 and PM5, the monitor will count up to 50,000 before it flips back to 0.
  3. You must ski at least 50 minutes of every hour in order to call this a “continuous” ski. You are allowed to take up to 10 minutes of rest per hour. We recommend you take regular rests throughout the attempt, and the flywheel can stop spinning. Any rest time taken counts toward your elapsed time.
  4. Keep a record of your attempt, including the start time and finish time of each session, and cumulative metres completed.

Individual 100,000 Metre Ski

  1. If using a PM3, PM4 or PM5, on the Main Menu, choose Select Workout > New Workout > Intervals: Variable. This will enable you to set a single distance interval of 100,000 metres, with a rest interval of 0:00.
  2. If using a PM2, set the monitor for 99,999 metres (that’s as high as it goes).
  3. We recommend you take regular rests throughout the attempt, and the flywheel can stop spinning before the target is reached; however, your final time must include the periods when the wheel is not spinning.
  4. Keep a record of your attempt, including the start time and finish time of each session, and the metres completed in each session. Have the log signed by a witness who can verify your performance.
  5. Send us the results from your USB flash drive or LogCard in the form of a .csv file, or send your signed manual record along with a photo, if possible, and copies of or links to any publicity that your record attempt received.
  6. New records will be recognized with a special certificate of achievement.
