About Concept2

Brothers Peter and Dick Dreissigacker started Concept2 in 1976 in a Vermont barn with the vision of creating innovative, quality rowing products for training and racing. 

Even though we have outgrown the barn, and our community has expanded well beyond rowing, our founder's original vision influences our business today. We continue to look for ways to make our products better and support our customers.

In January 2025, the Concept2 Perpetual Purpose Trust was established to take on “perpetual” ownership of the company. The Perpetual Purpose Trust will ensure that our founders’ vision and mission will be carried out by us, Concept2’s employees. The Perpetual Purpose Trust Stewardship Committee, which includes the company founders and designated employees, directs Concept2’s management and operations in a manner that maintains continuity.
